Fusarium root rot

Background
Soybeans in Beaufort county, variety AG 43FX2, were scouted and observed 15 % of field was affected by damping off and stunting in patches and strips across the field. The site is a low area. Some of the plants randomly dead throughout the area. Plants on either side of dead plants are fine.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils.
