- Soybeans in Beaufort county, variety AG 43FX2, were scouted and observed 15 % of field was affected by damping off and stunting in patches and strips across the field. The site is a low area. Some of the plants randomly dead throughout the area. Plants on either side of dead plants are fine.
- Conclusion
- The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils.
