Pythium root and or crown rot

Background
Edamame soybeans in Johnston county were scouted and observed the disease issues appear to be limited to rows and certain areas.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Pythium root rot and/or Pythium crown rot. This disease is caused by Pythium sp. Pythium root rot and crown rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils. This pathogen is an oomycete.
