Purple seed stain

Background
Soybeans in Hyde county, variety AG43X8, were scouted and observed 50% of the field was affected by localized damage. The seed quality is low and plants have an extremely green stem. The beans were sprayed for stink bugs in mid-August.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Purple seed stain caused by the fungus Cercospora kikuchii. Seeds will have purple or pink spots stretching from the hilum. While the crop value will be reduced, yield is unaffected. This disease is caused by warm and wet weather at the time and after flowering.
