Eyespot of Corn

Background
Corn (Variety incision 6306, 113 day maturity) was scouted by the grower and abundant circular tan spots were observed in the lower leaves of the plants.
Conclusion
The spots were identified as eyespot of corn by extension specialists. Eyespot of corn is cause by Kabatiella zeae. Cooler temperatures usually lead to it appearing early in the season on lower leaves as found in this field, and again near the end of the season in upper leaves.
