Brown spot of soybean

- Soybeans at R1 growth stage were scouted in Bertie county. Dark brown lesions were observed in the leaves on some of the soybeans.
- Conclusion
- The brown lesions observed were brown spot of soybeans, also known as septoria brown spot, due to its causal agent. Symptoms for septoria brown spot include light to dark brown necrotic regions usually surrounded by chlorosis. Defoliation can occur in sever cases.
