- Soybeans in Johnston county were scouted and observed 95% of the field was affected by blight, yellowing, browning, scorch/burn. The symptoms were widespread.
- Conclusion
- The issue was identified as Bacterial blight. It is favored by cool, wet weather and is inhibited by hot, dry weather. The disease is not usually significant in yield but can cause substantial losses when susceptible cultivars are grown under unfavorable conditions. Monitoring for bacterial blight is advised, especially when using susceptible cultivars.
