Fusarium root rot

- Soybeans in Robeson county were scouted and observed 75% of the field was affected by dieback, browning between the veins, scorch or burns, speckling /stippling, and stunting. The soybeans started rapidly dying after about the 2nd trifoliate stage. The only herbicide applied is Roundup which was applied to a Roundup tolerant variety.
- Conclusion
- The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils.
