Soybeans in Halifax county, variety MS 3861, were scouted and observed 1% of the field was affected by defoliation and dieback, stunting and wilting, in localized areas of the field. The site is dry. Plants had some herbicide damage earlier from Roundup and dicamba spray.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings.
