Fusarium pod rot

scouted Oct. 21, 2020

Scientific Name
Fusarium sp.
Background
Soybeans in Hyde county, variety AG43X8, were scouted and observed 50% of the field was affected by localized damage. The seed quality is low and plants have an extremely green stem. The beans were sprayed for stink bugs in mid-August.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Fusarium pod rot. The disease is caused by Fusarium sp. This disease is hard to identify because the symptoms are similar to other disease. To reduce infection minimize stress factors like herbicides, high pH, wet soils, and soybean cyst nematode feeding. The stress factors weaken plants and increases susceptibility.
