Charcoal Rot, Gray leaf spot and Northern corn leaf spot

Background
Corn was scouted in Johnston county by grower and it was observed that some plants had snapped stalk above the ear leaf. It was also observed that these plants had smaller ears than healthy plants. An estimated 90% of the field was affected. A sample was sent to the PDIC for diagnosis.
Conclusion
There were three different issues identified in the field, firstly charcoal rot of corn, caused by Macrophomina phaseolina, the pith and rind of affected plants appear gray because of microsclerotia that develop. Gray leaf spot and Northern corn leaf spot were also identified.
