Pythium root and or crown rot

Background
Soybeans in Pitt county were scouted and observed 15% of the field was affected. The entire plant and leaves showed symptoms.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Pythium root and crown rot. This disease is caused by Pythium sp. Pythium root rot and crown rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils. This pathogen is an oomycete.
