Background
Soybeans in Granville county were scouted and observed 30% of the field was affected by some seeds failed to emerge. This is a widespread issue.
Conclusion
The issue identified was Fusarium crown rot. Fusarium sp. can cause soybean seedling diseases, especially with wet conditions shortly after planting. These are more prevalent in poorly drained or compacted soils. Improving soil drainage may reduce stress and risk of infection.
