Soybeans from Greene county were scouted at R1 growth stage, and intense yellowing of the edges of the leaves was noticed. The incidence was estimated at 40% of the field.
Conclusion
The cause for this problem was identified as a combination of potassium deficiency caused by low soil levels combined with high levels of root knot nematode. Potassium deficiency usually presents as yellowing, reddening, and dying leaf margins on older leaves during vegetative growth and on upper leaves during grain fill.
