- Soybeans in Onslow county were scouted and observed 10% of the field was affected by browning and yellowing between the veins, malformation, stem rot, stunting, random patches in the field. The base of the stems are darker and have a girdled appearance. Roots are "J" shaped or twisted with no nodulation. The site is high area, dry, and sunny. There was heavy rainfall followed by a prolonged period of dry weather after planting.

- The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings.
