- Soybeans in Johnston county were scouted and observed 25% of the field was affected by damping off in patches. The area most affected appears to have potash deficiency.

- The issue was identified as Rhizoctonia root rot. This disease is caused by Rhizoctonia sp. Rhizoctonia root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils.
