- Background
- A corn field was being scouted, and it was observed that 10% of the field was affected by crinkled, unfurled leaves. A sample was submitted to the PDIC for diagnosis.
- Conclusion
- The issue was identified as exposure to growth regulator–type herbicides, particularly auxin-mimicking compounds such as dicamba or 2,4-D. These herbicides can induce characteristic twisting, epinasty, and abnormal leaf expansion when drift or volatilization occurs during active corn growth stages.
