Asiatic Garden Beetle

- Background
- A corn field was being scouted, and it was observed that plants were yellowing in spots and not growing in others. The field is not tilled with moderate wheat and soybean residue from previous crops. Further investigation led to the discovery of larvae in contact with the root. A sample was submitted to the PDIC for diagnosis.
- Conclusion
- The larvae were identified as Asiatic garden beetle larvae. Asiatic garden beetles feed on over 100 different plants, and while adults will leave ragged damage on the plants they feed from, the grubs cause damage to the roots.
