Soybeans from Greene county were scouted at R1 growth stage, and intense yellowing of the edges of the leaves was noticed. The incidence was estimated at 40% of the field.
Conclusion
The cause for this problem was identified as a combination of potassium deficiency caused by low soil levels combined with high levels of root knot nematode. High populations levels of root knot nematodes present symptoms of non-uniform stunting, wilting, and chlorotic patches as well as increased likelihood of disease complex with other soilborne pathogens as well as a hindrance to water and nutrient uptake.
