Background
Soybeans in Yadkin county, variety AG49XF3, were scouted and observed 85% of defoliation, bleached, browning, yellowing, between the veins, gum/slime/ooze/wet wood, leaf spot, and ring spot/shot hole/frogeye in patches. The site is low and wet.
Conclusion
The cause of the problem was identified to be soybean downy mildew, caused by Peronospera manshurica. It's a common disease that causes light green to yellow spots. It mostly affects younger leaves, which means it's usually found in the upper canopy and it only seldomly causes yield loss. There are many sources of resistance.
