Fusarium crown rot

scouted June 11, 2021

Scientific Name
Fusarium sp.
Background
Soybeans in Union county were scouted and observed 3% defoliation, browning and yellowing, and root rot in random areas. The site is high area and dry.
Conclusion
The issue identified was Fusarium crown rot. Fusarium sp. can cause soybean seedling diseases, especially with wet conditions shortly after planting. These are more prevalent in poorly drained or compacted soils. Improving soil drainage may reduce stress and risk of infection.
