- Soybeans in Perquimans county were scouted and observed a widespread insect issue in grain bins and tanks at a local grain elevator. The insects are small, similar size to a gnat or fly.
- Conclusion
- This issue was identified as Bark lice, Ectopsocopsis cryptomeriae. These bugs are incidental insects in crops. They do not feed on live plant tissue. They are not a documented soybean pest in North Carolina and do not cause economic injury.
