Soybeans in Sampson county were scouted and observed 60% of the field was affected by defoliation, browning and yellowing, leaf spots, widespread issue. Lower leaves had yellowing and defoliation occurring. Leaf spots were also observed.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as seed decay and pod blight. This disease is caused by Diaporthe sp. The cause of this disease is constant wet and warm weather before the plant reached maturity.
