Soybeans in Columbus county were scouted and observed 10% of the field was affected by stunting and speckling and stippling in the leaves, in random areas of the field. Whole field stunted and patchy emergence.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Rhizoctonia root rot. This disease is caused by Rhizoctonia sp. Rhizoctonia root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Prevalence tends to increase in warm and moist, but not saturated soils.
