Soybeans in R4 were scouted in Northampton county and insects were observed in 100% of the field.
Conclusion
The insects were identified in the field as corn earworm, above economic threshold, with lower numbers of yellowstriped armyworm also found in the field. The corn earworm feeds on foliage, flowers and fruits. When it's presence is above the economic threshold, the management strategy should target mid-size larvae, as it might be difficult to target small sized larvae and large larvae may already have caused economic loss.
