Macrophomina phaseolina
Background
Soybeans in Union county, variety Asgrow 59XF0, were scouted and observed with 45% of the field affect by blight, browning, and yellowing throughout the field. The site is dry. Foliar fertilizer trial symptoms were throughout the entire trial.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as charcoal rot of soybean, caused by Macrophomina phaseolina. It starts out with patches of stunted or wilted plants, while the infection can happen very early in the season, the symptoms usually appear after flowering.
