Soybeans in Camden county, variety AG52X9, were scouted and observed with 70% of the field affected by widespread pod issues with some turning brown, pods not filling properly, and pod shed.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Rhizoctonia pod rot. The disease is caused by Rhizoctonia sp. This disease occurs in various environmental conditions, but typically in light and sandy soils. Increased plant stress increases the risk of disease. Rhizoctonia are opportunistic pathogens when plant stress occurs.
