Background
Soybeans in Moore county, variety AG59X9, were scouted and observed were scouted and observed defoliation, dieback, browning, and yellowing between the veins. The site is marginal and sunny. The leaves on the bottom half of the soybean plants are starting to yellow. The margins of the leaves are turning brown.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Alternaria leaf blight. This disease is caused by Alternaria sp. This bacteria attacks the plant after another disease, injury, or insect damage. This disease typically occurs late into the growing season and yield losses are minimal.
