Background
Soybeans in Pamlico county were scouted and observed with 10% of the field affected by blackening and leaf spot in patches. The site was in a dry, high area that was sunny.
Conclusion
The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot. This disease is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings.
