- Scientific Name
- Fusarium sp.
- Background
- Soybeans in Moore county, variety AG 56XF2, were scouted and observed 25% of the field was affected by damping off, root rot, and scabby lesions, in patches in the field. The site is dry.
- Conclusion
- The issue was identified as Fusarium root rot and Fusarium crown rot. Fusarium root rot is caused by Fusarium sp. Fusarium root rot can result in both pre- and post-emergence damping-off, leading to delayed emergence and stunting of infected seedlings. Fusarium crown rot can cause soybean seedling diseases, especially with wet conditions shortly after planting. These are more prevalent in poorly drained or compacted soils. Improving soil drainage may reduce stress and risk of infection.
